Hi, Jenny! I'm new here . . . just started recently on Substack, and came across your amazing post/app! Wanted to find out what the wordcount limit is for adding a new post in the "Draft Content" box to be analyzed? I've tried pasting in a recent article and received a "Bad Gateway" error message . . . not sure if this is because the wordcount was too long? Thanks!
Hey Jenny, just wanted to say your quick viral notes tool is amazing and has firmly rooted itself in my substack publication process. As soon as a post is published the first thing I do is generate a block of notes to drip feed back on to my list.
However I was wondering if you have any tips or advice (or process) for managing and recording the notes as well as keeping track of which ones I've used?
I'm currently using a google sheet - but it feels like there should be a better way.
Hey Jon, your words got me thinking… Would you prefer downloading or exporting the generated notes in an Excel format to make it easier to transfer them to Google Sheets?
I ask because I aim to keep this website lightweight and affordable for users. To do that, I don’t maintain a database or store any user information. However, if I can make the export process smoother—like opening Google Sheets in a new tab or enabling copying in a specific format—I’d be happy to explore those changes!
Wow, thanks for the reply. To be honest an excel sheet (or even a csv) would be amazing. Happy to help test it (and any other additions) if you like, this really is a super useful tool
I tried yesterday and I got an error when pressing the generating notes button - the post request returned a 504 timeout. However it might have been a bit early so I’ll try again today. Also I noticed that my original account appeared to have been deleted and I had to create a new one.
Just tried again on my phone and it seemed to work - the excel sheet looks amazing 👍👍👍. I had one post that generated an error but the other five worked.
This is awesome! :) I wish I could code. As a product manager, I can empathize with your struggles with an MVP, and I can feel your excitement when it finally works out. :)
Great project, and I really like the color scheme you’ve chosen, it gives the design a clean and modern feel! I also appreciate the effort and creativity you’ve put into this.
I did notice a small issue while testing it out: I encountered an error message that says, “The string did not match the expected pattern.” It might be worth looking into to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Overall, though, this is a fantastic start, and I’m excited to see how it evolves! Let me know if there’s any way I can help troubleshoot. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for the comment! Please help yourself to try it, if you didn't create a publication yet, you can also use the "Single Post" or "Draft Content" to test it out. It can be very fun!
I understand the rationals behind raising timeout to 300, hoevwer it's not without danger.
Depending on the resource you have it run on, it makes easy to:
- use all your resources, creating a denial of service
- make your cloud bill skyrocket by spawning an insane amount of resources.
You might want either to:
- limit the amount of computing you want to allocate (then your app will be unavailable for a moment ) or
- go asynchronous, with a queuing system to process the post to note transformation, so things happen behind the scenes and you get a better control of resource allocation (including your bill)
Woo… Yeah… I thought about doing that too! It was in my idea list, but thought there are a lot of strategies to learn before putting real cash in. In the end, I might just take a little test with the amount I’m okay to lose :)
Check out my posts. I show stock charts to help you see what I’m seeing. Hopefully that’ll help you build your intuition and you can maybe turn it into an algorithm. I have a simple Trading View script that helps me spot trends better but I don’t have an algorithm to automate the trades.
I’ve been trying my strategy on cryptos. It’s harder for me since they are volatile. I’ve had more success with the crypto stocks. I talked about GBTC (Bitcoin) in some of my posts. Right now, GBTC is fairing well while ETHE (Ethereum) is not so hot.
You are definitely spot on getting the right algorithms. The difference, though, is that you're an experienced trader who trusts your instincts, while I tend to second-guess myself, even when the pattern seems so clear.
I guess that’s where automation becomes a real helpful tool for people like me!
This is so cool, Jenny! Congratulations 🥳💖 I'm so proud of you :D 👏🏻👏🏻
Awww, thank you so much for stopping by and showing your support, Alea! 🥰 It truly means a lot to me.

Hi Lisa, thank you for trying it out! I will take a look at the problem you encountered in the next couple of days as soon as I get a chance.
this is so cool, cant wait to show this at work you'll make brains bleed less, subscribed!!
Awww thank you for your kind words! I truly appreciate it!

The excel sheet function is added. Give it a try and let me know if it doesn't work :)

This is turning out to be an amazing tool
Great! I will work on that and get back to you in a couple of days :)

Thank you Selena, you are describing my exact experience and feelings!

Thanks for the comment! I think the issue you encountered was related to the recent breakdown of the AI API used in the app.
Just tested using your Substack url, and here is the first result, enjoy :)
1.
Hot take: Most people are stuck in life because they’re addicted to comfort, not because they lack talent. 🛋️
The real barrier to success isn’t failure—it’s the fear of looking stupid.
Key insight: Growth happens outside the comfort zone, not inside it.
What’s one thing you’ve been avoiding because it feels uncomfortable? Let’s talk. 👇
Seriously brilliant app, Jenny! Well done! I'm sold!
I signed up! This morning it gave me some kick ass Notes. This afternoon it seems to be frozen. I hope it is back up soon, @JennyOuyang.
Yes thanks Kristin! The AI model API was unstable today, so it was giving a whole bunch of trouble to performance.
I’m looking into adding alternative models so it always have a fallback when things like this happen.
I just launched not too long ago and I love love seeing this. I’m considering writing a piece about it

Looking forward to trying this out - such a great idea.
Thank you! And yes, absolutely try it just for fun :)
The first 20 trial is free for playing, take the most advantage of it!
This is such a fantastic site! Will try this out on my newsletter tomorrow 🙌
Yay! Thank you! Hope it worked out well for you 🙌
One quick thing about timeout = 300 in gunicorn.

Happy to help if needed
Thank you for the suggestions, that’s absolutely true!
I’ve implemented asynchronous processing for some methods, but I’ll definitely explore it’s application in note generating.
And I really appreciate your offering to help, I’ll make sure to reach out when I hit a road block.
Great, now it's gonna free my brain.
Haha, yay! That’s what it’s meant for!
Really cool app Jenny!
Congrats
What tech stack did you use?
Thanks Michael! I used Flask for backend and Vue for frontend.
This is so cool! I can’t wait to try it!
Thank you for sharing Jenny!
Awww, thank you for your support Kessie! So happy you can try it out!
Congratulations! I’m saving this, restacking it, and trying out your app.
Awww… Thank you so much! That truly means a lot to me. I hope you enjoy using the app, feel free to share your thoughts or suggestions anytime! 😊
I will because I want to see you succeed. Correction: continue to succeed 🤎
Great idea! I thought about automating my stock investing but I fear a bug could cost me big.
Woo… Yeah… I thought about doing that too! It was in my idea list, but thought there are a lot of strategies to learn before putting real cash in. In the end, I might just take a little test with the amount I’m okay to lose :)

I will! Thanks for all the discussions.
Now that you talk about stocks, wonder if you'd ever talk about altcoins.
Let me know how it goes!
Several years ago, I thought automating swing trading would be easy to code since the rules are simple.
I rely on manual trading nowadays because my eyes can see patterns which I think might be too difficult to write algorithms for.
I absolutely will!
You are definitely spot on getting the right algorithms. The difference, though, is that you're an experienced trader who trusts your instincts, while I tend to second-guess myself, even when the pattern seems so clear.

The swing trading strategy will come in handy for you.
It’s pretty simple.
You buy.
You set a stop loss order at 5% below your entry price.
When the stock is up 5%, you sell half.
You update your stop loss order to 1% above your entry price.
Sell the other half when the stock is up 10%.
The key is finding the stocks that are going up in price.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge here! Yes that’s true, finding the right stock is very tricky.
Often I see a lot of fluctuations in stocks, and starting at the wrong direction will end up losing a lot.
